初中英语课本讲到一般目前时，提到一般目前时的其中一个使用方法如下：

Schoolis over and the students go home.
对这种使用方法，我有点迷惑。
“Simplepresent: present actions that happen one after another” - 这到底的意思是呢？如何理解？
“Schoolis over and the students go home.“ 这一句为何不应该说成： School is over andthe students are going home吗？？？不理解。

忽视这种说法。根据这种说法用一般目前时，会掉进沟里的。我没在哪本语法书中看到过这种对一般目前时使用方法的讲解。
目前放学了。假如学生还在学校，则用一般以后时；学生们正在离校回家，用目前进行时；学生们已经离校回家了，用目前完成时。而用一般目前时好像是不对的句子。除非这是所谓的历史性目前使用方法，或者谈论计划的内容，但这与上面的使用方法说明并不同。
School is over and the students will go home.
School is over and the students are going home.
School is over and the students have gone home.
